Tip for the day: Watch what goes in your dog’s mouth. At least watch what you feed your dog. Not all dog food or dog treats are created equal.
And, beware of this!! If you ever change your brand of dog food…please, make sure you are aware of the calorie content of both your old and new food. I mean, make sure your new food calories match your old. Some foods vary as much as 100 calories/ per cup! That’s a lot of calories for a dog.
Please, do not overfeed or underfeed your dog when changing foods. Just consider this: if you feed your big dog 3 cups a doay, that is a difference of 300 calories!! If the calorie content is not listed on the bag, phone the company.

We read the ingredients and calories of our own snacks (or at least most of us should), so let’s do the same with our dogs.
Dogs who are not active, eating too much and just snoozing most of the day are becoming like us! FAT! Let’s become more conscience of the foods we feed our dogs.
Although you may think all pet food manufacturers have your pet’s best interests in mind, this is not always the case. Current pet food regulations allow manufacturers to use ingredients that you would never knowingly give to your pet.
In fact, you may be shocked to learn what some brands of pet food really contain. For example: the use of by-products (feet, bones and intestines, etc.), chemical preservatives (BHA and BHT) and grains that are often difficult to digest (corn, wheat, gluten and soy), which are often used as a protein source instead of meat.
