I was driving around with a 14 year old teenager…my friend’s daughter. This girl told me their would be a banana shortage in the world. I said “What!”

So, I looked it up, and sure enough she is right. Men just about kills everything that is good for us.

Why our passion for bananas could produce a world shortage.

We eat more than five billion of them in Britain every year. For supermarkets they’re a top seller and their most profitable product. But now the ubiquitous banana is under threat.

The United Nations food organisation has warned that - unless we are able to develop a new variety of banana, we could soon face a worldwide shortage.

And it’s all because of air and soil borne diseases -
